Vadodara is a Gaekwad city and it shows — in the palace, the museum, and the way the old town is laid out.
Saturday
Laxmi Vilas Palace in the morning, when the light is on the front. The Baroda Museum after lunch, then Sayaji Baug until it closes.
Sunday
Champaner-Pavagadh is an hour out and takes the whole day. Start early; the climb to the Kalika Mata temple is not one to do in the afternoon heat.
